Swim
Comments: Good swim. Started well left (outside) of field to avoid crowd, found some feet and cruised to the turn. Side-stroked a few strokes to keep my head up around the turn, then back down and pulled through to the beach. Passed a lot of guys on the way into the beach. What would you do differently?: Not much, swim felt good. Transition 1
Comments: Per plan, walked up the grassy path from lake to transition. Still recovering from strep the week before, didn't want to over-extend. Slow transition, but felt good at this point. What would you do differently?: go harder. Bike
Comments: Knowing this was a short ride and feeling good, hammered pretty hard for the first half of the ride. The effects of being sick the week before started to set in and I had some trouble coming back; legs got really tired coming back up the hills. What would you do differently?: train more between races, but given illness the week before there wasnt much I could do. Transition 2
Comments: Remembered my race belt this time...improvement over last race! Run
Comments: It was hot. I was tired. Definitely started feeling the effects of being sick before the race. Walked the uphills going out and ran most of everything else. Fell in with a couple of good-natured racers and we "leap-frogged" each other back. What would you do differently?: Still need more run training...my run sucks (even when I'm not recoving from sickness) Post race
Warm down: Grabbed some water and hung out in the shade with my wife, kids, mom and niece/nephew. Waited for my dad to finish. What limited your ability to perform faster: Definitely felt the effects of illness the week before. Need to train more between races. 3 weeks until next Sprint on this course, need to work hard on the run. Event comments: As always, love TBF events! These guys are awesome. Early-mornig wakeup and gather the family, load up and drive about 1 hr down to the lake. Checked in at Registration, found my Dad and got gear into transition area. Suited up and down to water about 15 min before race time.
Nothing to speak of.
