Swim
Comments: I kept my heart rate down and did not push it at all during the swim. It was choppy and I was informed by Colin before the race to focus on heart rate and keep it down. What would you do differently?: Focus on body position more and make sure to keep those high elbows. Transition 1
Comments: Had a good T1, wet suit came off well. I did not sprint out of water as to not elevate my heart rate to much. What would you do differently?: nothing Bike
Comments: At first my garmin was all messed up so once I got my feet in my shoes and strapped in, I had to deal with trying to take care of my computer, which meant I was sitting straight up going about 12 mph scrolling through the menu's until I fixed the problem. After that I was fine and was able to get into aero and start moving. During the second lap I started to get heart burn. Drank 3 bottles of gatorade during the bike course along with 5 GU's. 3 within the first hour and then 2 GU's about 40 minutes apart. What would you do differently?: make sure my computer is set up, but I honestly thought it was all set. Transition 2
Comments: I took my time during this transition because I didn't want to bring up the heart rate to much. What would you do differently?: For this distance race I would put socks on. My feet have a huge deep blisters which hurt a lot and one of them bled right through my running shoe. If I didn't have the heart burn I would move a lot quicker. Run
Comments: At first I worked to keep an 8:00 min mile pace but was having really bad indigestion and heart burn. It made it really hard to breath deep, so didn't being congested. In order to relieve the gas in my stomach I had to gag myself which would send me into a dry heave which would let me burp out some gas. I stopped and did this 5 times on the course. I stopped at every aid station and either took a heed or a flatted coke. I wasn't able to take any of my GU's. I also walked through the station drinking the fluids. My feet were killing me because I could feel the blisters rubbing every step. What would you do differently?: Put on socks! Post race
Warm down: Nothing What limited your ability to perform faster: I was sick. Sore throat and congested which effected how my head felt. Also lack of sleep the night before. It took everything I had mentally to finish that race. Event comments: It was a good race and I would consider doing it again. Last updated: 2012-06-18 12:00 AM

set up transition, while sipping some gatorade. Glide body.
Was sick, sore throat and sinus congestion. Only got about 3 hours of sleep the night before the race.
Dynamic stretches, pull knees to chest, heel to butt kicks, then go out for a 10 minute run with a couple pick ups to get the heart rate up.
