Pre-race routine:

Std pre-race breakfast: bagel w/ peanut butter, banana, coffee.

Arrived at transition with plenty of time to take care of business.
Event warmup:

Short swim, that's it.
Swim
  • 16m 35s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 53s / 100 yards
Comments:

This was another bad race swim. I generally have no problems swimming in open water, but when I get in the pack I get some anxiety.
I hung back at the beginning and was in a groove until the first turn when things began to back up. Anxiety kicked in and the rest of the swim was a challenge.
What would you do differently?:

I do a lot of open water swim practice alone. Trying to incorporate surges so I am more comfortable making passes and then getting back into a rythym.
Transition 1
  • 02m 9s
Comments:

Made the switch to going sockless and having pedals on the bike. Big difference. This was a really fast T1 for me.
There was a pretty big group at the mount line which made things a little hairy.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 49m 3s
  • 17.2 miles
  • 21.04 mile/hr
Comments:

A good ride for me. Executed my plan to go hard. I did get passed by Drew Scott and the rest of the really fast guys and gals but that didn't bother me. They were flying!!!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 2
  • 01m 52s
Comments:

Again, leaving shoes on the bike allowed me to speed up here.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 23m 48s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 41s  min/mile
Comments:

A good solid run for me, a little faster than I thought I would be. Came off the bike and out of T2 feeling really good.
What would you do differently?:

May have pushed a little hard at first and mile 2 was a little slow, but I was able to regain form and finish strong.
Post race
Warm down:

Walk, stretch, eat with my family. So good to have them there with me on this goregous Fathers Day.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Swim must get better. I think it is mostly mental. I need to relax.

Event comments:

Ironman does a great job of logistics.
Just a few suggestions: hate the plastic cups on the run, it is much easier to pinch and poor the paper cups, post race food was pretty lame and there weren't any recovery drink vendors on hand which was disappointing.
