Pre-race routine:

445am wake up call, was traveling with 6 girls who were running the marathon and had 1 hr earlier start time. Ate at 530am (oatmeal with pb and blueberries). Got there early 6am parked, 630am race starting area.
Event warmup:

The warm up had to be the walk from parking area to start area, if it wasn't a mile I would be shocked. There are no shuttles, lots of walking.

Did one GU at 8am/ 830am start time
Did 2nd GU at mile 5
Did Caffeine Gu at mile 10 and this worked out well.... I was full bore after this.

Comments:

Went out with 2:30 pace group (11:27), first 6.55 they were ahead of pace by 4 minutes. I broke off and did my own thing, I felt IT on left leg starting to get aggitated so backed down and paced myself and slowed down a bit till hill at mile 8 and just kept it slow and started passing people.
What would you do differently?:

If I notice the pace group off, break off prior rather than trying to stick it out. Trust YOUR watch, and know you can pace off people around you.
Post race
Warm down:

Chocolate milk half pint, whole banana, and bottle of water. Picked up the free ice cold Miller Lite but could only drink about a 1/3 before I threw it out. Just couldn't stomach it, it was cold though.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

IT band issues - felt good during the race though and finished strong!

Event comments:

2nd Half Marathon - PR by 7 min.
