Swim
Comments: Time is an estimate as my chip did not register for the swim or T1. First time for a swim that started out in the water. I was a couple of people deep and when they sounded the horn, it took a little bit to get going. The first 200 yards were spent bouncing off of others and trying to find clear water. This definitely slowed me down. My thought was to go nice and easy so that the stress of the start would not cause problems. However, I think I took that approach too far as my time was much slower than the last race. After the last turn, I kicked it into high gear which is where I should have been for the majority of the swim. What would you do differently?: Swim harder - focus on my race and not the others around me. Transition 1
Comments: Time is estimate (same as above for the swim). Still slower than I would like as I have to pry my suit over my ankles every time. Bike
Comments: I felt good on the bike this time. No stomach issues. I dropped the gel I was going to take about 45 minutes into the bike. However, this may have been good since I did not have any side cramps at the end of the bike/beginning of the run like I did at the last race. At the end of the 1st loop, someone passed me - I decided to keep them in my sites, which I did until the last mile of the course where I passed him back. Transition 2
Run
Comments: The run started on a trail and then went out to the road and over a bridge. It was very tight most of the time which made it hard to pass someone if there was another person coming in the opposite direction. Was happy that I felt good unlike my last race where I had a side cramp for the first 2-3 miles. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Bad swim! Event comments: Nice little race. They posted times and handed out awards as they received them. Last updated: 2012-06-22 12:00 AM
