Run
Comments: First lap felt pretty good. First lap time was around 68 minutes. Ended up walking up most of the steep hills and running the rest of the segments at a 9:30-10 min/mile pace. Second lap was struggling a bit. Stomach felt a bit upset around mile 8-9 but think it was from the GU gel that I used at mile 6. Felt my calves getting a bit crampy around mile 9 but took a bunch of gatorade and water and didn't get any cramps. What would you do differently?: Be in better running shape this time next year. Also make a better attempt to run in Springdale prior to race to train on some hills. Post race
Warm down: Immediately after finishing race headed to porta poddy for one last stop. Then had to drive home to get showered and change clothes for 3 mile MS walk. Had protein recovery drink on the way home and some gatorade and water. What limited your ability to perform faster: All the hills and just not being in the best running shape due to triathalon training over the summer. Event comments: VS Love the IVS Half Marathon. Such a challenging course with all the hills in Springdale. Also the post race picnic is awesome even though I didn't get to partake this year. This race will continue to be a staple in my race schedule every year. Will do this race next year with the goal of PRing as last year I finished 10 minutes faster than I did this year. Unfinished business at IVS Half. Last updated: 2012-06-23 12:00 AM

Got up early for breakfast. One cup of oatmeal with cranraisins and gatorade. Also one cup of coffee.
Ended up getting to Woodruff high school around 7 o'clock. Made 2 visits to the porta poddies to empty my bladder. Did a half mile run and light stretching to warm up. Was a bit chilly first thing in the morning but felt good once I got running.
