Swim
Comments: This swim was okay for me. My side started to hurt 15 minutes in... What would you do differently?: If I am going to do more oly distance races I need to get serious about my swim training... Transition 1
Comments: I must have taken a nap here or something...not sure what happened. What would you do differently?: Move faster! Bike
Comments: I knew as soon as I got on the bike that something wasn't right. Any time I tried to crank up the effort, I got a terrible cramp in my side. That being said, I loved this course. Tons of hills and very beautiful! What would you do differently?: Not sure...not cramp I guess... Transition 2
Comments: I stopped and put on socks. I knew by this time that my goal was out the window, so I wanted to make sure my feet were as comfy as possible. What would you do differently?: Not put on socks, but today it didn't really matter. Run
Comments: So, this is where the wheels really came off. I ran a 38 min. 10K on the run leg of my last olympic tri in 2010 and I had really high hopes of running in the 37's today. It was not to be. My side cramp continued through the run. I struggled to keep runnning but was able to soldier on and finish. I decided that instead of focusing on my sub par race, I would encourage everyone I could, and thank every volunteer I saw. That was alot of fun and I finshed with a big smile on my face. What would you do differently?: Not cramp... Post race
Warm down: I met up with my family and we watched a few racers come in. We had to check out of the condo so we took off and drove the 6 hours home. What limited your ability to perform faster: I thought my training was good enough for an olympic race, but Irealized that I was lacking in a couple of different areas. #1 - swim training. I have swam more this year than last, but I haven't done anything very long. I need to work on getting some longer sets in so that the swim is not so labored. #2 - long hard bike rides. To compete at this distance I really need to get more 2+ hour bike rides in with higher effort. Event comments: This race is the most organized I have done. I was very impressed! I am planning on coming back next year as I feel I have to prove to myself that I can compete on this course. All in all we had a great time on this trip. Everyone has bad races once in awhile and this was mine. By most stnadards this wasn't even a bad race. I just thought I should have done better. I am very blessed to get to participate in this sport and have such a wonderful family that supports me in this silly hobby. Last updated: 2012-06-24 12:00 AM

This was a vacation race for us. We headed to CDA on Wednesday and played for a few days before hand. We had a wonderful vacation!
Got to the race when transition opened at 5:30 and got a great spot. Did a 10 min warmup run 30 minutes before my wave started.
