Swim
Comments: Absoultely terrible. I had to pee and couldn't find a way to do it while swimming. I have no trouble peeing in a wetsuit but for some reason I couldn't while swimming. Way to preoccupied with my bladder and not concentrating on my swimming. Didn't get into a grove until the final 1/4 mile. What would you do differently?: Pee during warmup. Of course, I didn't warm up so that was also part of the problem. Transition 1
Comments: Pretty good transition. There is a 150m run to bike and the heels got stuck but the bodyglide helped and eventually I stepped out of them. Didn't put on biking gloves and that helped. What would you do differently?: Not much. Getting better. Bike
Comments: Very pleased. Course was not 25 miles (odomoter showed closer to 23 but I rounded up) but it was the same course as last year. Good news is that last year I was 1:26 on the bike (including transition) so I was at least 5 minutes faster. Had to pee the entire ride. ***just got an email saying the course was 23.4 bummer. So my improvement was not 7 minutes, but more like 3*** What would you do differently?: There is still room to push on the bike. Double check top of water bottle before I start to prevent it from falling off. Riding without gloves was a good idea. Transition 2
Comments: Not bad. Need quick-tie laces for my Nike's. I had to stop and retie during the run which also sucked. What would you do differently?: Buy quick tie laces. Running without hat was fine. Run
Comments: Not bad. Time inlcudes a bathroom break as I was about to burst. The bathrooms are outside transition so my 30 seconds was added to my run time. Didn't push enough on first lap but picked it up on second lap. However, my pace (even factoring in the bathroom break) was a personal best even for a 10k non-tri event and the course was not particularly fast given the repeat of the long hill. What would you do differently?: Need to start pushing as soon as I get my legs back under myself. However, I was pleased with my downhill running. Post race
Warm down: Oops. What limited your ability to perform faster: Mental. Still don't push enough. But, I was 7 minutes faster than last year so I won't complain too much. Event comments: Second time doing this race and it's very well done. Will most likely remain an annual event for me. Last updated: 2006-05-25 12:00 AM

Age Group Rank = 31/46
Drove up at 5am eating dry Cheerios and drinking Gatorade. Had a big cup of coffee and granola bar before I left.
Warmup? Hmmm. Would have been a good idea. Had plenty of time but just didn't do any warmup.
