Overall Rank = 87/180
Age Group = 25-29
Age Group Rank = 14/24
Pre-race routine:

I drank a little water and had a Gu. My last race i overdid it with food and drinks pre-race so this time i decided to eat and drink just a little bit and rely on what I ate and drank the day before. It ended up working pretty well.
Event warmup:

none
Swim
  • 10m 36s
  • 600 meters
  • 01m 46s / 100 meters
Comments:

I felt really good on the swim. I did take a kick to the face pretty early on and for some reason i couldnt see out of my left goggle for the rest of the swim. But besides that, my spotting was good and my strength in the water has improved.
What would you do differently?:

I did about as well as I can do at this point.
Transition 1
  • 03m 50s
Comments:

Started out great, got everything on fast and was ready to leave when a race official told me to strap my helmet. I thought i had , but it turns out my strap was broken. I looked at the straps and just couldnt figure out what was wrong. I was so frustrated that i almost threw my helmet and quit, but luckily my girlfriend was there to watch me so I brought it over to her and she fixed it for me. It propably cost me 2 or 3 minutes. I was pretty pissed, but learning how to deal with adversity on the course was a good lesson.
What would you do differently?:

Check race gear pre-race alot more carefully. Also, buy a new helmet.
Bike
  • 36m 11s
  • 12 miles
  • 19.90 mile/hr
Comments:

I felt good on the bike. I pushed a little harder because I felt like I lost so much time in T1.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 2
  • 01m 33s
Comments:

I forgot my race belt and had to run back for it. A small mistake that only cost me 25 seconds, but still frustating that I made mistakes during both transitions.
What would you do differently?:

Practice transitions
Run
  • 23m 47s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 39s  min/mile
Comments:

Pretty good run for me. It was pretty hot out by the time I started running and I still struggle drinking water at race pace. I tried to hold back for the first 1 1/2 miles, then pick up the pace for the last half.
What would you do differently?:

More bricks
Post race
Warm down:

walked, drank some gatorade

What limited your ability to perform faster:

broken helmet, bad transitions.

Event comments:

I improved by over 5 minutes from my first race! It would have been even better if transitions had gone smoother. But overall I am happy with how I did.
