Swim
Comments: Swim felt great. Broke away from the group early. Was a little worried that I overdid it here, but I think it worked out for me. 2nd person out of the water (the wave was 39&under males). Transition 1
Comments: Not too bad. I got passed by 1 person in transition, but he ended up being 2nd overall, so that's ok. Still so much better than last time. Did better at getting my socks and shoes on without too much hassle. Bike
Comments: And this is where it started raining. Hard. It was little bit miserable, and I got passed a lot. That's what happens when you're a good swimmer but suck at the bike. There were a lot more hills than the elevation map had shown. And some of them were steep. Going down those was actually a bit scary, with the rain and all. What would you do differently?: I need to get more comfortable on the bike. And faster. Transition 2
Comments: Nailed it. Run
Comments: Felt like crap on the first mile. Was convinced that I wasn't going to make it very far. Then I just kept pushing myself, only stopping (very briefly) to drink water from the aid stations. Found a bit of energy and actually sped up for the last mile. This is actually the first 10K I've ever done without walking! (What?!?) Post race
Warm down: Walked around. A lot. What limited your ability to perform faster: The rain on the bike? Event comments: Had a great time. I'll definitely be back next year. This was my first Olympic, and only my second ever triathlon. Last updated: 2012-07-02 12:00 AM

Woke up early, packed up the car, grabbed a gatorade and a banana for the road. 30 minute drive to race.
None. Watched the half-distance racers on their swim and T1.
