Pre-race routine:

Drove 2 hours in the pouring dark rain.
Event warmup:

None...I put my wet suit on 45 minutes before the race to stay warm...I started a trend, everyone followed my lead.

Seen 4 people get their race packet and leave...the rain and cool temp. was too much for them.

Raining very hard and the fog on the water made it difficult to see the small bouy's.

Ather than that I was pleased. Very clear water.

Long transition from beach to transition area. Had a little trouble getting wet suit off and bike shoes on.

Tried to keep everything dry, but was was difficult.

This is where it got very interesting. The entire course was in the woods and not paved at all. The rain made the trail into soupy, muddy mess. Again people were running to fast for the conditions. Racers were falling all over the place.

I decided to watch my step. Overall still a good run for me.

Warm down:

Jumped back in the lake to clean off.

I think I placed in my AG, but was not going to hang around back at the YMCA because of the long cold drive. The RD said he would mail my medal this week. Either got 2nd or 3rd.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Course: Roads good, but flooded due to hard rain. Rain hurt your face as I was riding. Bike computer shut down due to rain. Saw a few bike wrecks on mostly turns and cornering...to early in the race season to justify going to fast on very wet pavement. At least I did not get involved in any wrecks with other racers!!
