Comments: was breathing like a maniac as always but I was pleased with my time What would you do differently?: warm up Transition 1
Bike
Comments: I was crawling up some of the hills. I was pleased with my speed going down hills. Never felt like I got my HR under control. What would you do differently?: Would have preferred water, not gatorade, given the heat. Transition 2
Comments: it was fine. Lots of people faster but what the heck. It was 2 minutes. Run
Comments: Maybe I could have pushed it a little more but I was pretty happy with my pace if not my place! I stopped to drink and pour water on myself when I could. I walked up parts of the hills- not because I couldn't run, just to make sure I didn't hurt myself before the finish., Post race
Warm down: walked around What limited your ability to perform faster: racing heart at the start- still haven't figured this out. Maybe it's the lack of warm-up. And the heat. And my lack of training- am definitely going to focus on the bike. Event comments: Very well-organized and well-run. I know some people in later heats were unhappy with having to run in the brutal heat- but it's not always in the 90s in July in PA, and what can you do. I don't know how I got placed in the first heat but I'm glad I did. Super friendly volunteers, plenty of pizza even for later finishers. And I won my age group! So I am happy! Wasn't totally set on doing this triathlon even when I woke up in the morning. I took a smoothie and coffee with me which in retrospect was a bad idea...
