Pre-race routine:

Set up transitions the night before. Ended up eating a late dinner, which wasn't the greatest thing for me. Otherwise, arrived at the event about an hour prior to start.
Event warmup:

Light jog. Organizers wouldn't allow people to warm up in the water due to current. Got in the river as soon as the wave before went off and had some time to take a couple quick strokes and get used to the water.

Navigation was tough. I had to wear my super tinted goggles because I lost my other pair last week, which didn't help. There were no buoys in the swim, I felt like I was traversing back and forth the lake a bit.
What would you do differently?:

Knowing the course a bit better would have helped some.

Overall decent T1. A bit crowded getting out of the water, and some old lady was standing kinda bewildered in front of all my stuff. I also didn't have a great spot for my bike which would have saved me some time. Forgot to pre-open the gear bag, which would have saved me a few seconds. Overall a pretty good T1 though all things considered.

Good bike. Left enough to have a strong run. Also took a second gel toward the end of the bike which seems to have helped my energy level a ton for the run leg.

Well executed bike for my fitness leve.

Great run. Lots of other people out on the course. Lots of locals with hoses and things out. Took a teammate's advice and kicked out early which worked out great. The end of the run is a downhill through grass, so it was easy to just let it rip even after I was mostly burned up from the kick.
What would you do differently?:

Great run. PR by almost 2 minutes.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Great day overall. Probably could have done a bit better with the swim, but overall I'm satisfied. 2 minutes off the podium... just need to train more.

No major mental mistakes today, and performed physically well. Showing up early on race morning helped me out a lot.

Event comments:

My favorite race to date. Super organized, tons of volunteers. Great venue. I can't wait for next year, I'm gonna get me one of those potato trophies!!
