Swim
Comments: The Swim timers were broke so this time includes T1, which I guess to be about 2 minutes. This was my second OWS in a race. I have a lot of things to work on. Very different than pool swims and starts. What would you do differently?: I think I tried to pace myself TOO well. I got to the 600 m buoy and realized I wasn't tired at all so I pushed the rest of the way in. Transition 1
Comments: Time lumped in swim time What would you do differently?: My hands were shaking from the swim and I couldn't get my watch on. Wasted a lot of time on that. For Christmas, I'm asking for a watch I can swim in. Bike
Comments: Wish some of the roads weren't so rough. What would you do differently?: I think I need some coaching on using gears. I feel like I have the power to be faster but don't know how to put it to use. Transition 2
Comments: When I got back the bikes on either side of my number were already racked with little room to spare. My oxygen-deprived brain had a hard time squeezing my bike back in place. Otherwise it was pretty good. Run
What would you do differently?: Learn the course beforehand so I could more wisely spend my energy on the flats. Post race
Warm down: Just walking around eating cookies. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not knowing the course. Inexperience with OWS in a race environment Event comments: I liked the challenge of the course. I liked the kids' activities at the finish. I dislike styrofoam cups at aid stations.
