Swim
Comments: This was my first ocean swim and probably my last for a while. Getting through the waves and around the first buoy felt pretty harrowing to me. After that I swam okay but couldn't see the second buoy for quite a while. I ended up going too far in and having to swim back out. A couple more bouys would've made a big difference here. What would you do differently?: Get some practice swimming in the ocean. Transition 1
Comments: I had forgot to reset my watch so I had to do that. Dumb. I didn't bother trying to get most of the sand off my feet and it didn't really bother me. Bike
Comments: Official results did not record my bike time separately. Time is from my watch. This was my fastest sustained average speed on the bike so far. Nice to do a totally flat race. What would you do differently?: Build endurance to be able push a little harder for that 50 minutes. Transition 2
Comments: Besides waiting for the non racers they were letting walk right across the dismount line, I did pretty good. Run
Comments: I should've been able to do this faster. But my training runs have been terrible lately and I was feeling ill from all the saltwater I swallowed in the swim. What would you do differently?: HTFU and push harder. Post race
Warm down: walking around feeling queasy. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nonexistent ocean swimming experience. Event comments: I did not stay for the after party so it may have been great, but everyone else I was with wanted to leave before it started. Overall I felt like the event was rather disorganized. I wish there had been signage in the transition area and more buoys in the water. Also all the inconsistent timing was a little annoying. The weather couldn't have been better though and I enjoyed the course overall. Last updated: 2012-07-06 12:00 AM

Rode in with my sis. Ate a luna bar and black coffee.
Not much, just walking down the boardwalk to the swim start.
