Run
Comments: Nothing too exciting to say here, my legs were sore and I had some knee pain going into this because of some heavy training load recently. Oh and it was HOT! I was pretty much soaked less than a mile in. My shoe came untied around mile 4 so that slowed me down a bit, but overall a pretty solid effort. What would you do differently?: Tie my shoes better... Post race
Warm down: Walked around a bit and had some water while waiting for my wife to finish up. What limited your ability to perform faster: Heavy recent training... Event comments: Pretty fun way to kick off my 4th of July! Last updated: 2012-07-06 12:00 AM

The wife and I decided to do this on a whim a few months ago, and I didn't really take any time off from normal training for it. I ran and biked the day before, so no specific rest coming in. We're in the middle of a heat wave in the midwest right now, and I checked after the race and the heat index was already 95 at the race start. We drove down from Waterloo day of for packet pickup, and found parking less than a block from the start finish line, which was nice, then pretty much just waited around for the start. I tried to drink a decent amount while we were waiting because of the heat.
Nothing really, I'm not a big warm-uper, even for short faster races like this.
