Swim
Comments: This was my first oly...so it was all about pacing ,yself. I didn't know how much I would have left for the run. This was a slow swim by my standards...but you live and learn. It was a fun swim. Nothing out of the ordinary, the water was clear and pleasant. I kept running over top of the same guy..he must have thought I was crazy. What would you do differently?: Go faster. Transition 1
Comments: Decided to go with tri top only...no long-sleeve. Bike
Comments: Not horrible. I am still too slow on the hills....everybody and their mom passed me. It all comes down to training...no joke. I have not been on the bike enough the past few months...and it showed on this bike. What would you do differently?: Ride more. Transition 2
Run
Comments: I wasn't sure what to expect at the start of the run. Would my legs make it? Would I bonk like a mofo? I kept a good 8:45 to 9 minute pace throughout...didn't push as hard as I probably should have...but I made it, my first Olympic! Only faster from here...I need to increase time and ditance next season. I felt fast passing some of the "walkers" who ran out of gas at the end. What would you do differently?: Push harder (but I didn't have much more) Post race
Warm down: Soda and oreos...what else? Lokked around for some BTers...where were you? My son was being a crankpot, so we decided to head back before the awards. What limited your ability to perform faster: Quantity of training. Event comments: See everyone next year! Have a safe and happy offseason. I think I'm gonna focus on running for a while. Up at 3:30, left Raleigh at 4am. Arrived in the dark around 5:45. Walked half mile to race site with Corley and Parker. Ate bagel w/ PB and drank 20oz. Accelerad during drive to Pinehurst.
Quick run - maybe 5 minutes. Also quick swim 10 minutes before start. (I like to get my face in the cold wate).
