Pre-race routine:

Woke up and got ready ... ate breakfast as I finished up transition. Nothing out of the ordinary!
Swim
  • 38m 43s
  • 1500 meters
  • 02m 35s / 100 meters
Comments:

The most daunting part pre-race turned out to be the best part overall. After rounding the first turn the long stretch of the water was scary but I took it stroke by stroke. Was able to keep my breathing calm and consistent. My sighting was great. Rounding that last bouy home I got gassed and had to breast stroke a bit but in the end I got out of the water feeling good
What would you do differently?:

Keep up the distance work. More long open water swims
Transition 1
  • 02m 35s
Comments:

First time putting on socks post swim...usually go sockless...so that took up some extra time. Overall felt good
Bike
  • 1h 55m 16s
  • 26.1 miles
  • 13.59 mile/hr
Comments:

This beat me up! The hills were rough and long. It was getting hot and I was starting to feel the burn by mile 12. My back cramped up by mile 20. There was a TON of headwind on the way back into the statepark which made for a hard ride towards the end. Probably the worst ride/time I've had in a long time.
What would you do differently?:

MUST WORK ON HILLS and SPEED!!
Transition 2
  • 02m 17s
Comments:

left my garmin on my bike so had to go back and get it
Run
  • 1h 39m 21s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 15m  min/mile
Comments:

run course was hilly and hot. seemed that was the theme of the day! lots of people slowing down, cramping and not pushing their limit. I walked most of the course but found the energy at the end of mile 4 to push through. Overall disappointed with my time and effort but was just happy to be done
What would you do differently?:

More brick workouts, hill training and speed work
Post race
Event comments:

Sad there was no medal :( Overall a good, but tough race!
