Overall Rank = 24/166
Age Group = 55-59
Age Group Rank = 2/4
Pre-race routine:

Got up in the hotel, watched a little of the prologue in the Tour de France, grabbed coffee, oatmeal and a banana and headed for the race. The transition area was totally first come first serve, so there were no assigned racks. A little different than normal, but it worked fine
Event warmup:

It was raining lightly, so I set up my bike and went back to the car for about 20 minutes. I then put on my raingear and went for a short run and did some stretching. At 7:30 I went down to the lake for a swim. I was feeling kind of crappy at the start.
Swim
  • 06m 12s
  • 440 yards
  • 01m 25s / 100 yards
Comments:

Started a little too aggressively and put myself in oxygen debt...struggled the rest of the way. Stood too soon at the end making the wade back to water's edge slower and more difficult than it should have been. Overall, I took 2 and half minutes off my swim time from last year, so I feel good about that.
What would you do differently?:

Start just a little slower, swim until my hand touches the bottom.
Transition 1
  • 01m 7s
Comments:

Transitions need work. I was 24th overall, and only one person in the 23 ahead of me had slower transitions.
What would you do differently?:

Practice. Get shoes with the rubber bands already on the bike
Bike
  • 38m 42s
  • 14 miles
  • 21.71 mile/hr
Comments:

Solid ride and I also dropped two minutes from my time last year.
What would you do differently?:

Get better on the transition.
Transition 2
  • 00m 56s
Comments:

My transitions suck. See above.
What would you do differently?:

Practice. Get the feet out before the transition
Run
  • 20m 19s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 06m 32s  min/mile
Comments:

Pretty good run and felt good about the 6:33 pace. It was cooler than last year, actually perfect running conditions. This certainly helped pull down times for everyone. I dropped nearly 50 seconds from my time last year.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Post race
Warm down:

Just walked around, ate a bit and drank quite a bit of water

Event comments:

Budu does a nice job with their races. I've done about 10 of their events. They are not spectacular, but they are very consistent, well-organized and the results are posted almost immediately on the course and on the web in a few hours.
