Swim
Comments: Expected to shave off a few minutes from last years time of 32 min.(have been working hard on intervals at the pool)..but alas...my over all training was not enough. Fully expected to look at split time on watch as I exited the water and see 25 to 28 minutes. (I felt like I was "hauling ass") I was shocked to see 37 minutes!!! How could that be? Had a hard time "shaking off my disappointment" What would you do differently?: TRAIN MORE. TRAIN HARDER. TRAIN MORE OFTEN. SWIM MORE LAPS. GET A SWIM COACH. Transition 1
Comments: Respectable transition What would you do differently?: speed up, shave a few seconds Bike
Comments: Felt pretty good out of the water. A little dizzy. Went easy for first 15 min.on bike. Waited 15 min.until I started taking in nutrition. Things went well from there. Took appropriate gels and cytomax and water Couldn't stay in the drops for long.(don't have aero bars). No blazing time. What would you do differently?: Train harder!! Transition 2
Run
Comments: Very Hot this year! Started 1 month later than last year. This is a grueling course! I definately was ill prepared. Felt like I was going to DNF the whole time.(how could I feel like that after 3 years of training and racing?) Got caught and passed by 4 runners. The only thing I feel good about is the fact that I caught and passed all four of those runners 1/2 mile from finish.(Tortise and the Hare thing I think) Really dug deep to stay in this race. The straw that broke the camels back was when the runner who I perceive to be the "last one" passed me. I said to myself: "Oh no...this ain't happening" Thats when I caught those other runners. In my mind a small redemption. What would you do differently?: Train more!! Post race
Warm down: Jumped in lake. Felt Good!! Did not make mistake of drinking to much to soon so I spared myself a "gut ache" What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of and poor quality training. Heat Event comments: Entry fee included post race BAR-B-QUE. No food. Ran out of food early. Ran out of post race hydration and gatoraide. Last updated: 2006-05-27 12:00 AM
