Swim
Comments: I am starting to like this swimming sort of fast thing. Lined up at the front and when the horn went off I started very hard. Got out in front to the contact and settled into a draft. Kept that pace up for until the frist turn and then settled into an uncomfortable pace. Navigation was good. Time includes about 1:30 or 2:00 of running up to transition. Time out of the water was somewhere just over 10:00. What would you do differently?: Nothing. This is as good as I can swim for now. Transition 1
Comments: Lost a couple seconds here b/c I forgot for a second that I was wearing my swim skin. Still the 2nd fastest time in AG. Bike
Comments: Jumped on the bike and just hammered. It was only 12 miles so the plan was to go very hard and try to hold on during the run. Passed one person right out of transition and then I was on my own for most of the ride. At the turn around, I saw someone ahead of me and used them to set a chase pace. I was able to pass him just before transition. Fastest AG split I was never passed. Very happy. Transition 2
Comments: Good transition for me. bike racked, helmet off and shoes on. Grabbed my hat and race belt and put them on leaving transition. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Fastest in AG. Run
Comments: So this is where my races usually go downhill in a hurry. I really pushed the bike and was expecting this run to really go downhill. Starting out, my legs actually felt great. I had a nice quick turnover and felt almost light on my feet. I knew my buddy was pretty close behind me and he is a much faster runner so I expected him to pass me quickly. After the first mile I was still by myself. I just kept pushing. Coming into the 2nd mile I saw my buddy behind me but it still took him a little while longer to catch me. I tried to hang with him for a bit but that was not happening. My goal then was to keep pushing and keep him in my site. I was able to chase him until the finish and actually finish the run with a 5K PR. I'll take it. Post race
Warm down: 25 min cool down jog back out the run course to cheer the finishers on. Event comments: 1st ever AG win. That felt good. Tri the Parks always puts on great events. Very laid back and there are always people you know there. Last updated: 2012-07-11 12:00 AM
