Run
Comments: Mass start on the beach. Had to run through sand castle ruins (stepped in big hole). HR was 178 very early. Had to slow way down and try to get into a rythum. HR high for whole run. Wind, rain, concrete and hills made the run a bit of a challenge. What would you do differently?: Don't know what I could have done different, just need more experience. Transition 1
Comments: I set up on the wrong side. I had to run with my bike shoes on so my socks did not get wet. What would you do differently?: For a DU set up near the bike exit. Bike
Comments: Ave. was 23+mph for first 3.5 miles - down to 17+ at turnaround - started fading fast during last 2 miles (the ones they added for a bonus) I passed a ton of people on the bike and I thought I was doing great. I did get passed by three girls (good looking ones with awesome bikes). Entrance to T2 was jammed and slow getting through. What would you do differently?: Due to the rain I wore a jacket. Everytime I was in the drops the jacket fulled with air and acted like a parachute. It killed me on the way in (find better jacket). Sunglasses fogged up and could not wear them (get anti-fog). I so need to get some aero bars. I should have checked out the course sooner so I could have trained differently. Transition 2
Comments: Checked my time and felt like I was out of the race at this point. Since this was my first race I did not want blisters so I changed my socks. Dry feet are so nice! I decided not to rush. I ditched the 20 pound soaking jacket for the run. What would you do differently?: Since I was going to change my socks I sould have ran in them instead of my bike shoes! Maybe I should only race when it is dry! Run
Comments: I actually passed three or four people on the run. One was during my sprint to the finish, also held of three people at the end. I finished the second 5K faster then the fist as planned so that went right. What would you do differently?: I had my keys with me the whole race but I did not notice them with the jacket on. That must have slowed me down. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: I had been sick a few days before the race and was still sick during the race. I almost quit a few times because my stomch was so bad. I never ever even for a second thought about racing in the rain. I had no plan for it. Event comments: Great race and I plan on doing it again next year. Last updated: 2006-05-27 12:00 AM

Panic
Got up around 5am. Ate breakfast- stomach still did not feel good. Threw everything in the Jeep and headed out. I was later than I wanted to be since I was to start at 7:30. Transition closed at 7 and I had no idea what to do.
Short jog/ nervous pacing/ freaking out
