Swim
Comments: I let the nerves get to me. Went out too fast and needed to take some short breaks at the wall. Actual in-water time was faster than training still (run to transition is included). What would you do differently?: Relax. Settle in to my rhythm sooner. Transition 1
Comments: Not bad for my first ever transition. Pulled a tech tee on, strapped on my shoes, helmet and gone. No socks. What would you do differently?: Put socks on. The bike was no problem, the run gave me blisters that then broke open. Bike
Comments: Had a great ride. Ran into some traffic on Marvin Road. There was a tree transplanting truck cruising at about 15 mph. There were about six cars and 3 cyclists caught behind him. After cruising slowly for a minute or so I pulled up and asked the next cyclist if they were racing. Turns out they weren't. Just a group of cyclists riding on the course and taking their time. One close call when the vehicle in front of me hit the brakes (I locked up my rear tire and slid a ways). Eventually turned off the road and got clear of the traffic and continued on. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Just hope that next time there are no oversize, slow vehicles on the course. Transition 2
Comments: Good transition. What would you do differently?: Wear socks. I realized my mistake about 100 yards down course. I violated the #1 rule. Nothing new on race day. Run
Comments: Run was good. Here is where my lack of nutrition from earlier got to me. I ate one Gu on the bike (left a second in my bag - should have brought it). Had no gas for the first mile though my first mile pace was decent (8:18). Settled in to a good running rhythm just in time to finish. What would you do differently?: Wear socks. My feet had to hot spots on the top under the laces that kept stealing my focus. Not a bad run though. I didn't really know how much to push the pace though. Next time will be better. Post race
Warm down: Ate some fruit, a bagel half, and some pulled pork. Drank a lot of powered to rehydrate. What limited your ability to perform faster: Inexperience. I didn't know how hard to push on the bike or run. Nerves sabotaged my swim. Next time will be much better. Event comments: Great race. I really enjoyed myself. This was my first Triathlon and was very pleased. This is a great race to start on with very friendly racers and volunteers/staff. Last updated: 2012-07-14 12:00 AM

Light breakfast: Bagel and cream cheese, orange juice. Should have eaten more. I was hungry again before the start of the race. Otherwise, just set up my transition and checked it a dozen times. Watched the start of the pool swim.
None. Walked around a bit and tried to keep calm.
