Swim
Comments: Felt fine in the water. Should have done better sighting. I think I'm going to invest in new set of goggles to see better. The sun was right on my line for the bouys and the current kept drifting my inside of the bouy. But it wasn't that bad on the way back. there were some little swells so I of course sucked in a bunch of water. The worst thing was that on the way back I put my forearm right thru a big fat mean looking white jellyfish. Didn't hurt in the water stung a little on the bike and run but felt it after the race. No big deal. What can you do...? What would you do differently?: Not hit a jellyfish? Good luck. I think that I could have done some more bilateral breathing and sighted better. I found a good guy to watch but lost him early Transition 1
Comments: Nervous about my Transitions. I took a spill the day prior to the race practicing my T1 and T2 so I was extra methodical and probably slow. It was still my best T1 ever. What would you do differently?: Put tape on my shoe straps and rubber band the pedals in place. Bike
Comments: Best bike race ever. Almost...I said almost enjoyed the challenge of the hills. It kept it interesting. Was able to eat and drink on the bike. Was nice having full tires too... What would you do differently?: Keeping riding to get a little more gutsy on cornering and turns, especially down hill turns Transition 2
Comments: T2 was fine. I was a little bummed about the area just after the mount / dismount line. I thought I had tough feet but it was rough. But got moving once got in T area. What would you do differently?: Move a little quicker Run
Comments: Felt good. Lost sight early of my comptettion but that guy was hauling the chilli. Worked hard on the mental side of the race. Not whimping out and keep pressing. Felt very tired. What would you do differently?: push a little more. AVE HR = was slightly below LT Post race
Warm down: Ran run couse again (6 miles) What limited your ability to perform faster: Time on bike and mental toughness. Event comments: I had a ton of fun racing and getting after it. Last updated: 2006-05-28 12:00 AM

Night before got together with a bunch of the BT crew. It was really nice time. Woke up at 0430. Ate PBJ, Bananna, Coffee, and 32 oz Hammer HEED. Made sure to go to the bathroom a couple times...must be nerves. Had a good time in the Bible, praying, going over some Bible verses that I've claimed for racing and doing triathlon. Hebrews 12:1-3 and Eph 6:10-20. Checked out of the Q at Dahlgren. For Military is it really nice and new. Drove to race site. Parking was tough so I did the best I could. I figured if you are going to park like a jerk at least make it close....so if whoever left me the nasty gram. I deserved it. Got my transition area figured out.
Ran maybe 1/2 mile or 3/4 mile did some dynamic stretching but had to cut a couple of the circuits out and then rode 1 1/4 miles. Felt good. the start was late so after it took me forever and they were telling us to get to the beach I jogged over to beach and found out that the race was delayed 10 min. That equaled my swim workout. I probably got 100-150m in. Nothing much.
