Swim
What would you do differently?: Can never have evough swim practice and this race proved it again. Transition 1
Comments: The run out of the river was slick with algae but there were volunteers to assist you out of the water. What would you do differently?: Rack my bike by the handle bars instead of the seat. I was in transition and because it was crowded I realized I had to run around the other side of the bar to get my bike without knocking anyone elses around Bike
Comments: The course closed which made it really nice, no worries about cars passing, all lanes were open to cyclists. The hill upto Columbia Pkwy is no joke, it was short but steep. Saw a few people walking their bikes up the hill. My legs could feel it when I reached the top and flattened out, only to be hit with another small hill about 200y later. Took me a few minutes to get my legs back after that but when I did it was smooth and the rest of the ride was relatively quick. What would you do differently?: Practice more with pedals on when I start riding and find some hills to climb a couple of times a month Transition 2
Comments: Had a little problem with my left bike shoe at the dismount line; it came unclipped at the same time my foot came out. Luckily I was able to kick it up on the run and catch it in the air without having to stop. Hope no one got any pictures of that. What would you do differently?: Practice taking my feet out of my shoes before the dismount line. Run
Comments: Route was a little confusing towards the end, it was a sea of cones and I wasn't really trying to read the signs. What would you do differently?: Do more full length bricks and run more frequently. I probably could have pushed harder earlier. My slow run caused me to fall multiple spots in my age group but I did have and awesome finish and got the jump on a fellow age grouper to beat him by one second. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Me and my inexperience Event comments: Swag bags all say CHM (Cincinnati Half Marathon) a total push for the promotions up-coming event and the shirt was an ugly off orange color. The post race food was adequate--orange slices, watermelon slices, bagel quarters--nothing spectacular. Overall I was pleased with the event and plan on entering again next year Last updated: 2012-07-16 12:00 AM
