Event warmup:

None really.
Swim
  • 32m 6s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 58s / 100 yards
Comments:

Navigation was horrible on the up river portion, I zig zagged my way up river, this caused my slower then anticipated time.

My watch time for swim: 31:52
What would you do differently?:

Swim straighter.
Transition 1
  • 03m 44s
Comments:

Decided not to use the wet suit. Jersey got stuck when I was putting it on, had to take it off and start over, this caused some delays.
Bike
  • 1h 17m 48s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 19.16 mile/hr
Comments:

Just after leaving transition another athlete passed me,as I glanced down to check my bike computer I heard a crack. I looked up in time to see him run into the guard rail next to the course, get thrown from his bike, do a flip mid air, and land hard.

I stopped and he thought he had dislocated his shoulder, among other injuries. Luckily we were just passed an intersection and were able to get a park ranger and a spectator that happened to be a medic on scene quickly.

After I was assured that he was being taken care of, I continued on my race. I had never seen anyone cash that hard, it took a bit to get my mind back on riding. At the end of the lap, an ambulance was there taking him off. Hopefully he's alright, not a good way to end a race.

Overall I was really happy with my performance on the bike, I felt strong though out the entire bike portion. My computer listed the course at 23.00 miles, so a bit short. Based on that I almost made a 19 mph average, 18.9, I'll take it.

My watch time: 1:14:00
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 2
  • 01m
Comments:

Forgot to hit my watch timer at the start of transition, a minute is an estimate, my watch had 14.5 seconds. It was fast for my, but not that fast.
What would you do differently?:

nothing, this was a good fast transition.
Run
  • 54m 27s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 08m 46s  min/mile
Comments:

Ran most of the run, walked the transitions and one other time on the way back. Overall good run, I was really happy with it.

Out: 27:14
Back: 27:44

A bit slower on the way back, but not by much.
What would you do differently?:

nothing

Event comments:

TBF puts on some good races, this one wasn't an exception. I've done Golden State Sprint at the same location, it worked great for the longer olympic distance. Had a great time, I would do this one again.
