Swim
Comments: Weird. So many guys just walked most of this. I hung with Ken for the first bit, walking together then I started swimming. I stood up once on the way out to try to plot a course around the walkers. This wasn't a great swim. My chest felt really constricted by my wetsuit and I felt winded. Navigation was great, every time I sighted the yellow buoy was dead ahead. On the return I looked up and there was Ken. We walked/swam together. I tried dolphining a bit. It was fast, but tiring . Ended up crossing the transition mat with Ken. Transition 1
Comments: Felt ok. I forgot how long the run to the transition area is at this race. OA: 112 AG: 11 Bike
Comments: I didn't push this, because of the stiffness in my back and legs. I knew the run was going to be hard as it was. Only got passed by a few guys in my AG. Didn't pass any I don't think, so I definitely lost a lot of ground in my AG placement on this. Still, it was fun. Transition 2
Comments: Decided not to wear socks at the last second. Good call. Didn't fly through this but took it steady. My back and legs were screaming when I got off the bike. OA:221 AG:14 Run
Comments: This didn't feel too bad once I got moving. It didn't feel fast but I didn't care. Saw Julie, Marlee and Madi about 1/4 mile out of transition! Sweet! After the first mile I ended running with a woman wearing a Wegmans shirt. We paced each other for most of the rest of the run. I took off with a little over 1/4 mile to go. Started to feel like I was going to hurl nearing the chute, which is always good. Post race
Warm down: Hung out, watched people come in. Went home. Overall I'm ok with this. My AG placement was better than at Sodus Pt. which was better than my previous race. This is the first time I've ever improved my Sprint times in two consecutive sprints. It shows progress and increased consistency. Good enough. For now. What limited your ability to perform faster: Under training. Event comments: Love the Finger Lakes Tri! One of the best run races anywhere. Last updated: 2012-07-22 12:00 AM

Up at five after the usual "wake up every hour on the hour" pre-race sleep pattern. I was in bed and asleep by 11:00 so that's a good night for me before a race.
I was still really stiff from my idiotic workout on Thursday, which was followed by a gig carrying our equipment up and down two flights of stairs Friday night. Still, I felt good. I worked on the bike the day before and it was shifting beautifully.
Had a cup of coffee en route. Made it to the race a few minutes after six. Met up with Dud, Yvonne, Ken, Rob, Cherri and Kara. Then hung out until my 9:05 start. That's right. Waiting around before the race took approx. twice as long as it would take to actually do the race.
This was done with no electronics. Went purely on feel.
