Swim
Comments: Felt my swim was slower than the last one. Actually stayed pretty consistent with the last (13 seconds faster than last OLY on this course) What would you do differently?: Nothing really. Maybe I'll get a little quicker with training but really would be pretty happy with staying consistent with my times. Transition 1
Comments: T1 was good. Pretty congested as I was getting out of the water with a lot of the last groups of the sprint distance race. What would you do differently?: One day I'll give the rubber bands on my shoes a try. Until then I'm happy with my transition Bike
Comments: Overall great ride for me. Upped my speed from 3 weeks ago by 2 mph. Had to deal with an older hillbilly in a truck and 4 round abouts. For some reason she thought a yield sign meant stop. Backed off to 12 mph at best through each round about but better than crash. Also got passed with 4-5 miles to go so I let up to let the gentleman go so I didn't get any drafting penalties. After passing me he slowed way down and I coasted in at about 19 mph the last few miles What would you do differently?: Probably pass the guy who passed by me then slowed down at the end. Overall very happy with my bike ride. Transition 2
Comments: So disappointed with my T2. My bike time was a little quicker than I'm used to and I didn't recognize any bikes near my rack. Ran past my rack then had to back track to rack my bike. Putting my shoes on I lost a strap off the bottom of one of my Yankz laces. Pretty much whatever could go wrong did for me on this transition What would you do differently?: Is it okay to mark your rack with chalk in front of the rack? If so something like that would be in order so I don't space on where my rack is Run
Comments: Did good on my run. First 4 miles were in the 750-8 range. Took gatorade instead of water at the 4 mile water station. Not normally a deal but it was the powdered mix and tasted like straight sugar. Stomach couldn't handle it and I ended up having to get rid of it (puke) a half mile later. After stopping the last mile and a half were tough to get into rhythm What would you do differently?: Not drink gatorade. Post race
Warm down: Lots of water and a yoohoo. What limited your ability to perform faster: I'm a bonehead and need to pay better attention to what's going on around me Event comments: Drc puts on good races. They're the only one's I've done but couldn't imagine it being much better. I do wish they wouldn't have opened the beer garden until the OLY was finished. Beer was gone before I got any. No bueno! Woke up at 5. Didn't eat except a gel 15 minutes before race.
If you include scrambling around trying to find the goggles I lost a warmup then that's what I did. Had to send someone home to pick up a spare set I have.
