Pre-race routine:

Up at about 4:30 to eat breakfast. Egg sandwich...only ate about half and a half a cup of coffee. Wash it all down with a bit of gatorade.
Event warmup:

Rode my bike from the hotel over the sand key bridge to the transition area with all my gear on my back.

Comments:

Very large groups in each wave led to lots of bumping and kicking at the start as everyone tried to round the first bouy. Tehy were also sending he waves off pretty quickly. Once I got into a rythym, I felt pretty good.
What would you do differently?:

I get a little out of sorts with all the bumping that goes on at the beginning of the swim. I guess I'll just get use ot it. I think I can make up time here.

IT is along run up to the transition from the beach. Need to aprint a little faster and I could pass some people here in the future. Got to my bike and had to put socks on. Not ready to go without them yet. Realized I didn't put the rubberbands on my aero bottle so lost a few seconds there. Overall not bad.
What would you do differently?:

No socks next time. Make sure aero bottle is set up prpoerly.

Towards the end of the race on the clearwater beach sinde I slowed down a bit to get a drink. That cost me some time. I am a little upset with myself because I coaseted a little too long here rather than crank it out. I was a little worried about that last bridge.

Started off very sllloooooowwwww. Did not get up to speed for a bit. Need to spin my legs a little bit faster coming off of the bike. Just felt okay. Thik I can improve here. I am still carrying about 15 lbs too much weight. as i lose this, it should get better.
What would you do differently?:

Start a little harder. Lose 15 lbs.

Warm down:

Have a couple of gatorades, some pizza, and assorted fruits.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Overall I was happy with my performance except should have pushed a little more on the last part of the bike and started a little faster on the run.

Event comments:

They apparently ran out of wter and gatorade shortly after the race ended.

Course: out over the bellair bridge then Memorial and then bring it home over sand key. Loved the bike course! Sand Key bridge killed me though. I passed a lot of people on the bike and only got passed by maybe two people on fancy bikes.
