Swim
Comments: Very wavy, made sighting and breathing difficult. Missed the first buoy by a large margin. Managed to get close to the next one and hit the shore right on. Breathing was difficult, miss timed it a few times and got a couple mouthfuls of water. What would you do differently?: Not much, it was just tough conditions, maybe sight a little more often on the crest of the waves. Transition 1
Comments: Should have walked transition. My heart rate was spiked from the tough swim and I pushed through. What would you do differently?: Walk transition to let my heart rate settle. Bike
Comments: Started to let my HR settle, but then started to push the hills too much. Ended up pushing the last hill too hard and ended with a high HR. What would you do differently?: Take more time to settle after the swim. Take a mile or two slower so that I can have a better run. Transition 2
Comments: Had to re-rack the bike as I missed the first rack and almost dropped my bike. Pretty good T2. But never let HR come down from swim. What would you do differently?: Go a little slower in all transitions to let HR recover. Run
Comments: My weak sport. Went to hard on the rest of the course and kept running hard initially and around mile 1.5 had to stop off to the side and puke/sit down. After my HR finally came down from 180+ I was able to finish strong. What would you do differently?: Walk all transitions, take the bike a little easier. STOP EATING OATMEAL for breakfast! Post race
Warm down: Fiancee waiting for me at the finish (she started in the wave before mine) and I only won by 3secs. Gave her a hug and walked around and got some food. Grab a camera and watch her parents finishing there first triathlons at 71 and 62! What limited your ability to perform faster: I need to find a better breakfast and not let my HR stay too high after my swim. Event comments: Only one water station on the run, it just makes the run a little hotter and tougher. Really like an aid station every mile or so. Did not like that they split the Age Groups up. I only had one person pass me from my wave and ended up in 5th place. Would have been a good race seeing a few more people in my age group in front of me. Last updated: 2012-07-26 12:00 AM

Woke up an hour before transition opened, ate oatmeal and banana. Everything was packed in the car, helped Fiancee's parents pack everything and off to the race to set up our transition areas.
Got my wetsuit on and went for a little swim, more to get a feel for the waves than anything else. The waves were 3-4 feet.
