Total Time = 7h 00m
Overall Rank = 120/600
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 24/83
Pre-race routine:

Got up at 4. Had coffee, banana, PB and honey sandwich. Drove 10 minutes to event by myself. First race I haven't had to wake the wife and kids up for. Got there, found friends, drank, peed, drank, peed, drank, peed, drank, got lined up.
Event warmup:

None
Swim
  • 10m 2s
  • 586 yards
  • 01m 43s / 100 yards
Comments:

Best feeling on the swim yet. I liked the Time trial start and the running start into the water except by the time I got to go (#487) I had to pee again.
What would you do differently?:

One more stop at the port-a-john before the start
Transition 1
  • 02m 5s
Comments:

This was the biggest transition area I've been in so that added some time but I really didn't transition well. I need to cut 30 seconds out of this but as long as I'm wearing sock, I'm not sure how I would.
What would you do differently?:

Prepare to get my feet clean better and in less time.
Bike
  • 38m 33s
  • 14 miles
  • 21.79 mile/hr
Comments:

This was my fastest ride yet and I really pushed until the end. I coasted in thinking we were in a no pass zone earlier than it started but I would not have taken much time off.
What would you do differently?:

Pass those two coasters at the end.
Transition 2
  • 01m 3s
Comments:

Sunglasses got stuck on my helmet so I didn't run with them. By this point I really had to pee again but didn't take the time to run over to the port-a- johns
What would you do differently?:

Not much. Long run to exit transistion added some time.
Run
  • 24m 16s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 50s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt better than ever starting the run because I avoided taking any type of gel on the bike. Unfortunately by the time we hit the water station on the other side of the lake my bladder was about to burst. There was a Port-a-john there so I stopped, took a 25-30 second break, hopped out and finished the course faster than I have done a run section yet. SPrinted up the hill to the finish and caught about 10 other racers that had either just passed me or didn't know I was coming.
What would you do differently?:

Should have started the last push sooner. I still had a little in the tank after the race was done.
Post race
Warm down:

Found my wife and kids and refilled with water and fruit.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Having to pee.

Event comments:

This was an exceelent race and really well put on. There were more volunteers than at any other race I have been to so far. They had a bunch of them everywhere and all had t-shirts on so your would recognize them. Race swag was good, including a pair of socks to go with the race shirt. I highly recommend this race to anyone doing sprints.
