Pre-race routine:

Woke up and had a small bite to eat and then headed out. Got there really early so I had lots of time to set up bike and get everything organized and ready.
Event warmup:

Jogged a few hundred meters and stretched. Should have stretched a lot more before the race and made sure that my body was a bit more warmed up.
Run
  • 06m 59s
  • 1 kms
  • 06m 59s  min/km
Comments:

I didn't really know how fast I was going to be able to run but I thought I would be able to do the first run without any problem but it was tougher than I would have liked it to be (Partly because I didn't really train at all for the run) I had to run a lot slower than I would have liked to.
What would you do differently?:

Make sure that I am warmed up more before the race start.
Transition 1
  • 00m 44s
What would you do differently?:

Learn to get on bike with bike shoes already on the bike.
Bike
  • 39m 40s
  • 18 kms
  • 27.23 km/hr
Comments:

First 15km were really good I was holding a much higher pace than I thought I could hold and wasn't to tired. The last 4km were really bad as both of my legs were very close to cramping. I could feel every time that I pushed down that my leg would almost cramp. I had to gear up really high so that my cadence was really low so that I didn't have to push down as often. I slowed down by a large amount in the last 4km.
What would you do differently?:

Not to sure how to make sure my legs wouldn't cramp up I have never had that happen before but I would like to have it not happen in the future.
Transition 2
  • 01m 1s
Run
  • 27m 15s
  • 4 kms
  • 06m 49s  min/km
Comments:

Run did not go very well as my legs were still really sore. I had to stop quite a bit to just stretch and make sure my legs didn't cramp up. Overall though I didn't feel to bad. If my legs were not cramping up I could have gone a lot faster. I wasn't tired at all I was just slowed down by my cramping legs.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Cramping legs!!!

Event comments:

Quite happy with the way it went considering I only really trained for about 2 weeks. I would like to do more of these in the future and actually train for them. I know I can do a lot better if I do so.
