Swim
Comments: Ok, so in the first 1/3 of the race, the altitude got to me. I could not get my breath under me, and then I took a kick to the ribs. I didn't think it hurt me, but soon I had to do the unthinkable, and grab onto a kayak. I got my breath under me and eventually went on my way. I took the back half a lot slower and was able to survive the swim. That was the key, survival. Don't forget that it may have been a bit longer due to the fact the timing mat was at least a 2 minute run. What would you do differently?: Test it out the day before. We talked about it, but I decided not to. That would prove costly as knowing what the altitude did to me could have been prevented. Transition 1
Comments: T1 was fucking long. And I mean LONG! I had to take a long time just getting to my trans area. Once there, I didn't have to take the time to rest like I have in past tris. Got ready pretty quick and had mrrmrr to cheer me on. :-) What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: This was just a little out and back. I kept it really steady on the downhill and on the way back, I was able to keep it in big ring and just steadily climb back to trans. I didn't think it was a spectacular ride, but I guess the timing says differently. What would you do differently?: make sure my stupid cyclometer is working! Transition 2
Comments: my toes were hurty and they were very painful. It took talking to mrrmrr and trying to massage my feet to get going. What would you do differently?: I don't know...hopefully not have my toes MNS Run
Comments: I just ran. That's all I did. I didn't think about anything. My toes worked out and I just ran. It felt good, although I thought I was moving a lot slower. Oh well, I feel just happy. Post race
Warm down: Just walked around. Ate chips, pretzels, and a pepsi What limited your ability to perform faster: the altitude Event comments: Everything was well done except the post-race. I was not too happy with the food selection. Races should have bagels and bananas. Some milk or gatorade would have been nice too. Last updated: 2012-07-31 12:00 AM

Woke up really early, got a great spot in trans, then just stayed loose and relaxed.
Aside from maybe 100 meters of swimming, nothing. This would prove costly later.
