Swim
Comments: This simply proves I need some work. I was unprepared, plain and simple. It felt like it took forever. About 2/3rds the way through the wave that started behind us caught up to me. When I stood up ad looked at my watch I saw a time of about 11:30 which surprised me, I thought it would have been more like 15 minutes. What would you do differently?: I need a coach, plain and simple to help with form. Transition 1
Comments: Should have been a little quicker considering I had no wetsuit to take off. I was winded due to my poor swim performance. What would you do differently?: What's there to say? I need to work on my swim so I'm not so worn out coming into T1 Bike
Comments: Nice course! Felt good once I caught my breath. Was able to pass a lot of people and was only passed by 3 guys that looked like they did this for a living. LOL! What would you do differently?: Go a little harder. Transition 2
Comments: Should have been a little quicker. I got a little confused on which way the run started which maybe costed me 5 seconds or so. What would you do differently?: notice surroundings better. This goes back to my short time setting up transition before race start. Run
Comments: Good run course. A little silly having to do a couple loop backs around the cones. I would have thought they could have done that part a little different and made it more straight. What would you do differently?: Not much. No cramps, good pace. MAYBE pushed a little harder next time. Post race
Warm down: Walked around and had something to eat. What limited your ability to perform faster: Poor swimming/no wetsuit. Event comments: Great race overall. Courses were good except the run portion had a loop around the cones a couple times which I thought could have been eliminated by simply making the course a straight shot out and back. Bike was flat and fast overall, swim was course was ok. Good overall race that I hope to do again. Last updated: 2012-07-31 12:00 AM

Wife had meetings in Madison which was a little over an hour away so I had to get up at 4AM to make it on time with the drive. Left the hotel a little late and had to speed to get there. Ate some oatmeal along the way and had some coffee.
The parking lot was a ways away and I debated on taking the wetsuit due to water temps. I hurried and got checked in, marked and got my timing chip. I only had about 15 min to get my transition area ready and felt rushed. I saw a fair number of people with wetsuits so I debated on wearing mine. One problem....I forgot it in the car a mile away in the parking lot! I told myself this will be a good challenge for me since I've never done a race without one. I never had time to do any type of warmup and felt off my game completely!
