Run
Comments: I haven't felt good all week, and haven't ran well since before IM Kansas. I just recently recovered from a nagging ankle "thing" got new shoes and then got sick with some sort of stomach/head thing. I have had a few good training runs before getting sick last week and felt like a PR run was possible. My special goal of 22 min seems sort of laughable now but I felt like 24 can be broken however when I crossed the line I felt lucky to break 25. What would you do differently?: I think I was a bit dehydrated at the start thanks to the stomach issue and trips to the bathroom. I should have brought water to warm up with and sip on, I started the race feeling thirsty (I have felt thirsty all week). I look forward to that 5k race when I am not sick/injured, am well rested and feeling competitive and mean instead of old sick and tired. Post race
Warm down: Hang my head over a rail and try not to fall over, then cold rags, water, watermelon and change my shirt What limited your ability to perform faster: Being sick and maybe a pacing error. It is possible I can hold a <7 pace but I need to try it when the stars are better aligned Event comments: Fun little race, live entertainment is different, a Beer Garden looked popular, there was barbecue or something being served but nothing appealed to me and my stomach Last updated: 2012-08-04 12:00 AM
