![]() Swim
Comments: The pack choose a wide line to the bouy and I didn't follow. The bouys were not lined up very well and I wound up swimming directly to the first bouy, then had to make a large course correction at almost a 20-30 degree angle out towards the turn bouy. I did have a few folks to draft off of. ![]() Transition 1
![]() Bike
Comments: I was in the first swim wave and there were a bunch of people in front of me. I passed several people on the bike. Then, a stroke of luck coupled with my ability to follow instructions occurred. Everyone except Justin who was in front of me on the bike missed the turnaround. This vaulted me from probably 10-15 place all the way to second. I've never come close to leading a race so it was cool that I was props from other racers (this was an out an back course) although I wasn't in 2nd due to my fitness. What would you do differently?: I felt pretty good on the ride. My legs didn't quiet have the umph I expected, but, regardless, it was a decent ride. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: I was the third person in T2 and EVERYONE in the crowd was dead silent and I could feel there eyes. As I was running out of transition I gave a quick holler to get the crowd juiced. They cheered. It was fun! ![]() Run
Comments: Awful run. This was my slowest run in an olympic distance race EVER. Pouring over my logs, I realize that 15-20 miles per week aren't gonna cut it. The ony reason I placed is because there were faster folks behind me that had to ride several more miles than I did. I had enough of a lead that even with crappy run, I was able to hold on to 3rd in AG. ![]() Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Total training load is lower this year than last so I'm not surprised at my lack luster results. Event comments: Swim was short, volunteers forgot to remind racers to turn around (ultimately it is racer's responsibility to know the course). But, the race finishes at a cool post revolutionary war fort that fires a cannon. The post race goodies were good and instead of another medal, the RD gave out really nice visors. The visors are nicer than the crap you can buy at an IM or you get from Rev 3. I really like this race. Last updated: 2012-08-07 12:00 AM
