Swim
Comments: I was hoping for a better swim. Started off good, but coming home the sun was peaking over the mountain and I had hard time navigation through the glare. Also got caught in a lot of traffic...kind of frustrating. What would you do differently?: Wear tinted goggles, get to the outside on the way home. Transition 1
Comments: Not a bad T1. Long uphill run to the transition area. What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: I had read plenty of comments about the Branson bike course, both at this forum and others. Nothing I read truly prepared me for this bike though. I have to admit it was pretty intimidating at times. What would you do differently?: Find huge hills to train on. Transition 2
Comments: Another smooth transition Run
Comments: Run started out pretty decent, but I was feeling those hills on the bike by mile 6. Eventually the brutal bike course won and I was slowed to a trot. What would you do differently?: Regardless of the hilly bike course or not, I needed to do more bike/run bricks. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: I simply did not train nearly enough for the massive hills on the bike course. My bike splits were slower than I expected and the hills wrecked my legs for the run. Event comments: For my first 70.3 it was a good experience and very rewarding. However I think a more mellow bike course would have been nice. Looking forward to experiencing another 70.3...just not Branson. Last updated: 2012-08-08 12:00 AM
