Pre-race routine:

woke at 4:30 ate a eggs, toast and cup of black coffee Got to race site at 5:30 set up transition area got race chip and used bathroom. Had Gel about 15 min before race.

Comments:

Made mistake of trying to get smudges off my gogles right before race. Wound up getting a little water in them and couldnt see very well as they fogged up a ton. First race so not really sure how I did since the course was adjusted and I dont know how far it really was.
What would you do differently?:

Make sure goggles are clean and anti fog spray is on.

T1 was good I guess. Could have been faster as I had to run the water bottles my wife and I forgot to her spot..Wasted about 30-45 seconds.
What would you do differently?:

Dont run around transition area and move with more urgency.

Passed the one water bottle to my wife as I passed her..Slowed to chat for a minute. Felt good on climbs could have pushed it harder...No water for 3/4 of course stunk. Wanted a drink bad by time I finished.
What would you do differently?:

Remember water. Push harded and dont slow to chat...sorry honey!!

Buy a Road bike. Borrowed my brothers mtn bike which is good but everyone told me it would be slow...Oh well

came into dismount very fast jumped off and had to stop as there was a bit of a jam. Ran to my spot parked bike took off helmet and was off...Alreadt had sneakers on so that waa good.

felt good...mistake was not pushing harder Did my version of a kick at the three mile mark passed a few people in the last 1/4 mile or so. Should have pushed as soon as made turn onto Waterside.
What would you do differently?:

run faster out of comfort zone earlier

Warm down:

ran back up course a little bit to see my wife finish with my brother

What limited your ability to perform faster:

wasted time in t1, a road bike would be nice and run harder

Event comments:

First race was a fun one. My wife and I are hooked...get ready for next year!
