What would you do differently?: Put my head in the water & swim faster Transition 1
Comments: Only put on one bike glove & glad I did because there was a lot of shifting on hills. Got my wetsuit off OK, wish it was a little quicker What would you do differently?: Maybe rinse my feet better, there was a rock in my shoe during the run. I definitely need to get going on my bike faster. Bike
Comments: I rode right behind another female biker, I would get so close on the uphills but never passed her! did pass a few people in the beginning of the course. I tried to conserve my legs on the bike just a little bit for the run. Saw the boys at the end of the bike, loved that! What would you do differently?: Pump harder up some of those shorter hills. Transition 2
Comments: Dropped my bike & helmet, pulled off my glove and started running! Some confusion as to where to leave the transition area & start running. What would you do differently?: Run faster into the transition area. Run
Comments: One guy passed me very early in the run, but I stayed right behind him the entire way. I think I passed almost 10 people during the run! My legs felt very wobbly & rubbery in the beginning of the run but they worked it out & felt strong the whole way. There was a small rock in my shoe & I got a blister on my right ankle but despite all that I felt great! What would you do differently?: I'm really proud of my run! Not sure there is much I would change! Post race
Warm down: Walking around with the kids What limited your ability to perform faster: Fear of the river, still not feeling competitive on my bike Event comments: This was the first year the race was organized by the group from Parks & Rec. They were all incredibly friendly and helpful and have learned a lot. They made amends for the bike misdirection & have invited us all back for next year & I'd have to say I want to do it again! The river swim is perfect for people unfamiliar or nervous with river swimming, the water is clear and the river is basically shallow. The bike course was challenging, I can't lie, but that could be my inexperience. The facilities are great- my family had a wonderful time cheering. I could envision a fun BBQ after next year's Tri! Stopped at a Sheetz on the way down. Arrived & registered. No racks in transition area so we picked two squares near the river.
Went for a quick, brief jog to get my heart rate up. Got in the river several times to get used to the water temp & squishy gross river bottom. Used Pam & body glide before putting on my wetsuit. Didn't do a warm-up swim but was wet before the swim began.
