Swim
Comments: Last year swim course was suppose to be 500m but due to race day goof, we only swam 300m. This year due to drought and low water condition the course followed the same course as long but 1 lap instead of 2. Course this year was 750m which I think the added distance scared off of some of the competitors. I used a wetsuit since the time I saved in the water over 750m would be greater than time in transition for removing suit. What would you do differently?: Swim was a lot more crowded then what I expected, so was in the mosh pit for the first 100m. Transition 1
Comments: Race timing/results combine t1 and bike time. I was able to break down my t1 time using my garmin device. Only issue I ran into is socks I choose I could not tell what was up or down when I unrolled the sock on my foot. Had to peel off and turn the sock around. What would you do differently?: use socks that are different on top or bottom so I know how to put them on. Bike
Comments: Last year ave mph was 19.8 and this year 20.7 for same course. Added clip-ons this year and was faster in the longer straight stretches. Was able to maintain a good pace on hills and was able to keep passing others. Decided this year to only 1 water bottle instead of a second bottle of sport drink. Drank sport drink before bike, and water while on bike. Transition 2
Comments: Was able to rack bike smoothly, get bike gear off, shoes on and top off on fluid. Felt good leaving t2...no dead legs. What would you do differently?: cant think of any Run
Comments: Last year pace was 8:00 so 7:37 this year was improvement. What would you do differently?: happy with improvement Post race
Warm down: grabbed some ice cold water, light beer and ate a banana. What limited your ability to perform faster: Just keep working on swim and swimming longer distances. Need to up my run distance if I plan on going to longer tri distances. Event comments: Each event my bike and run have gotten faster and faster. Last several months of swim training have help my swimming but still need to work more on it. I improve my overall standing from 83 to 44 this year but my age group rank was 5 same as last year.
