Comments: Went out too hard and REALLY paid the price. It was a little warm, and it was the first race of 10 mile or more since late 2010 where I didn't wear my calf sleeves (and I was happy I didn't). I just never felt good; never in control. Ran the first few miles in 7th, and just slowly kept losing spots. Right-side stitch starting around mile 5.5 (at the top of that hill at the hairpin turn). What would you do differently?: Start off easier, and let some runners go instead of trying to keep up. Post race
Warm down: Walked backward on the course for a bit, and then jogged about 0.75 miles to the car. Then stretched pretty well before driving home. Iced heel in car for 30 minutes (which felt OK!). Event comments: Race was supposed to start at 8:10, and they said "17 minutes to start" 3 minutes after the 5K started at 8. There COULD have been a few more aid stations, but I was dying, so I was looking for them. Last updated: 2012-08-21 12:00 AM

A Powerbar about 90 minutes before, some Sharkies about a half hour before, and a gel about 20 minutes prior. (Another gel at the mile 7 aid station.)
Jogged about 0.75 miles, and stretched well!! ITs a little tight, and heels a bit achy.
