Swim
Comments: As soon as the race started I felt great. No one wanted to move up to the front of the group, so I said what the heck. The first 200 yards there was a lot of congestion and I really wish the faster swimmers would have started where they should have been. To date this is the best a swim has felt. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 1
Comments: This was my first race with a full sleeve suit and the transition went smoother than I could have expected. What would you do differently?: Not much Bike
Comments: By far my best leg of the race. I was on a set of 90mm carbon Mercury wheels from my local bike shop. The hills were crazy and there were three that I remember that there were volunteers telling everyone to slow down due to the turns and surface. I am glad I listened to them, but it was kinda disheartening to have to slow down on the downhills. Kinda kills the momentum going into the hills. Overall I felt really fast. Played leapfrog with three other bikers. I had the advantages on the flats and the slight declines, where the others had the advantages on the climbing sections. What would you do differently?: nothing Transition 2
Comments: This was fast. I was in a good spot, and I even spent some time putting on my socks. What would you do differently?: nothing Run
Comments: I don't understand how some people run so fast. I am just not a fast runner, but I know what I am going to be working on this winter! I know there were at least 3 guys in my AG that passed me on the run. It is kinda tough to see them just go passed me, but I really felt good and that is what matters to me. Post race
Warm down: Met up with my wife and talked about our races. She is officially addicted to this too!! I look forward to training with her in the coming off season. What limited your ability to perform faster: Just my run speed. Event comments: This was my final tune up race before my first HIM in three weeks. I am going into it with a good feeling and looking forward to it. My wife's timing chip didn't work, so she didn't get splits, and I had to figure out my own rankings since HFP only has them on line as overall finish so far. Last updated: 2012-08-21 12:00 AM

Got up early (4:00) and drove to the race with my wife from Akron.
For some reason I couldn't get my head around doing this race. Maybe it was the lack of sleep or something, but I didn't warm up at all, except for standing in the water to get acclimated with the temperature.
