Pre-race routine:

Pretty normal. Banana and piece of toast with PB on it about 2 hours before race time. 30 minute drive from the house to the race site.
Event warmup:

Got a chance to warm up in the water. Got familar with the bottom sand/rock and stroked out about 50 yards and back.

No age group rankings. New goggles and did not have them tight enough for the waves. Had to clear them twice and got off course a little.
What would you do differently?:

Tighten my straps a little bit more due to waves.

Out and back double loop down Ocean View Blvd. Not bad, but I did hit a small plate cover of some sort and the darn Garmin Forerunner popped off. Wasn't going to lose it so I put on the brakes and went back and found it pretty quickly and poppped it back on. Still worked. 3 bikes passed but I caught them right after the first turn around. Probably cost me a minute or two

Get the Garmine Edge 500!

Course: Down the beach and back. Had to cross two drainage pipes and navigate a section of rocky shore since the tide was in. Kinda like an adventure run!
