Pre-race routine:

Light breakfast and drove to the event. Set up transition and got in a few short runs. Tried to stay warm in the cold water. Waited til the last second to get in the water because of the outside temp.
Event warmup:

Stretch and 4x150 sprints. Swim 200 right before start.

Comments:

Got on the feet of two others and we rotated well to hold a good pace. swim went really smooth. I got out fast in the first 150 to get away from the crowd and only contacted one person which was a teammate.
What would you do differently?:

I hope to swim like that again.

Had a good transition. took a bit of time to clean feet and dry them. the transition was really rough asphalt so the run through was really slow. saw some people stage flip flops out of the water to run into transition, that was not a bad idea.
What would you do differently?:

tape my feet over to help with the rough surface.

Road was not really good. I stayed behind a guy to let him navigate rough surface. Pace was good and hill ascents were good today. I was able to push pace earlier in the bike than the last race.
What would you do differently?:

Try to up pace just a bit. legs felt really good going into the run.

Course: Long hill gradule hill to start then rolling hills. flat off road across the dam. through the grass which I slowed pace. the grass was knee high so you could not see what you were stepping on. ascent to the dam was very off camber. We ran back against the bike trafic, It was not fun with some of the corners where bikes or runners where trying to shorten the course and almost collided. Need to separate the two diciplines.
