Swim
Comments: It was a great swim. Only problem I had was fogging of the goggles so I had to clear them almost every tenth of a mile so I could see the buoys. The best feeling was when taking an occasional breath to my left I saw a sea of orange swim caps, the wave that left prior to me. :) I swam the course wide so I'm sure that added a little time, but it made for easy swimming with minimal contact. What would you do differently?: Start with new goggles. Still need more time in the water. Transition 1
Comments: It was about a 1/4 mile run from the water to T1. I had estimated my time to be 5:00 for T1, but missed that. I was very methodical in getting things together so I know I lost a little time there. I'm sure I also lost some time running from the beach to the bike. Overall I felt good so I'm not upset about the time. What would you do differently?: More transition practice would help. Might consider getting the wetsuit off at the beach and carrying it to T1 instead of running with it stripped to waist. Bike
Comments: Really enjoyed the bike. I think I could have pushed it a little harder but since this was my first Oly I didn't want to over do it before the run. This is where I feel the limitation of the aerobars on a road bike, it would have been really nice to have had the shifters in aero so I could take advantage of a few situations. What would you do differently?: Probably push a little harder. OK, maybe get a Tri bike...:) Transition 2
Comments: Went well. Run
Comments: I'm still improving my run but it felt really good. I actually thought I would lose more ground on the run than I did so I'm happy about it. Got a great boost in the last couple of hundred yards when I saw a friend who came to cheer me on!! Well, she actually had to yell at me for me to see her(tunnel vision at that point), but it really helped my finish. Post race
Warm down: Lots of water, walked around with my wife to find friend & her family. Hung out with them for a while to chat and then finally made way to food tent. Got gear out of transition and stayed for a while to cheer on some of the half finishers. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not knowing how I would feel at this distance. Need a bit more practice in transitions. Event comments: Rev3 put on a great event. I would definitely do another and hope they come back to Maine again next year! Last updated: 2012-08-27 12:00 AM

Bike was checked in on Saturday. Arrived at 5:15 race morning to set up transition, pump up the tires and give the bike a once over. I then had some time to relax and take in the early morning atmosphere.
Walked to beach watched some of the Half Rev start and then got in the water for a warmup swim.
