Drove from home, made one wrong turn at last minute, parked too far away. Rushed to get to registration.Mom visiting so babysitter was good to go!
Normal sandwich, and fluid prerace routine.
Double download.
Event warmup:

Standing in line for bathroom.
Swim
  • 08m 44s
  • 586 yards
  • 01m 29s / 100 yards
Comments:

Started with teammate Rupp, had a good run start in, and got after it. Swim felt fast, didnt draft, just tried passing everyone-hurry-its a sprint!
What would you do differently?:

Go even faster, stay tighter to the buoys-felt that on the way out I was swimming too wide.
Transition 1
  • 00m 53s
Comments:

SPRINTED to bike-gotta make my rule#1!!!
Found, helmet, RUN!!! mount line and gogogogogo. I tried getting past this guy mounting with me but he just barely got me at the incline--IE the no passing zone-ugh!!!
What would you do differently?:

faster mount to beat those at the line.
Bike
  • 34m 46s
  • 14 miles
  • 24.16 mile/hr
Comments:

Once I passed the mount line blocker I was off and pushing. Had a bet iwth a friend to beat last years speed-23.4--long story short-got it 24.2! Great ride, pushed and pushed hard. Only had on eissue with rider making a pass, taking too long. He made me go 3 wide and then slowed to make a turn-we did it shoulder to shoulder-then I left him too.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing really, turning out to be a complete race.
Transition 2
  • 01m 14s
Comments:

UGH-there goes the complete race. Missed my spot by 10 bikes-NOOB! shoes went on quick-no socks and body glide.
broke my rule#1
What would you do differently?:

hindsight--wear socks-wear different shoes.
Run
  • 20m 34s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 06m 38s  min/mile
Comments:

Love this run. The baby rollers wake your legs pretty fast, the shaded course is awesome and beautiful, the winding trail keeps you focused. The out and back keeps you honest with chasers.
Stupidly ran barefoot for the FRIST time in the particular shoes-MISTAKE.
1/2 mile heel/achilles pain, 1 mile I know theyre bleeding. 1.5 mile arch pain, 2 mile I know theyre bleeding. 2.5 to finish all Im saying is HTFU and get to the finish to get the damn shoes off!!!! Fastest run on this course for me--10 cuts/bleeding spots will do that I guess.
What would you do differently?:

Change shoes
Post race
Warm down:

Teammates
Baby girl
Family
Pics-and holy crap-AWARDS. I never place here-3rd a/g
Cheering on al kinds of people till ceremony.
Pizza and drink.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

lost bike spot in T2
blocker in no passing zone
blocker on course
feet killing me
mental

Event comments:

Seems like there was more of an "expo"/tent set-up last year. Spectators arent "allowed" food but theres nothing else for them. Mix 1 samples, other vendors-sell the pizza too etc...?
Love this race!
Love the volunteers, police, and club putting it on!
Repeat racer and will be back!
