Swim
Comments: Started on purpose at the back but then quickly caught the middle of the group which was not the best move. Passed several swimmers and got into some open water. Felt some grabbing at my feet which slowed me down a little but swam through it. Better overall swim, wetsuit makes a huge difference, felt pretty strong on the swim and was passing some folks. Transition 1
Comments: A little slow getting wetsuit off and then helped another racer who could not find his zipper pull. Bike
Comments: Thought I would pick up more on the bike then I did over last year. About 3 minutes better than 2011. Definitely need to train on more hills to improve on this course. Transition 2
Run
Comments: Run was fair, but did not have my pace numbers starting out as I paused the watch by accident in transition. Got is back about a 1/2 mile in. Still can improve the running by upping the miles. Just ten weeks out from the knee surgery so I am ok with this run for now. What would you do differently?: More hill work and speed work Post race
Warm down: Found the family and went to look for results, got some food, not much offered here Event comments: This is a well run race that is organized and on time. Great for first timers as everyone is understanding. The post race food is weaker than most but overall a great experience. Out the door at 5am for an hour drive to the event, coffee and toast and go
not much time for warm up - they do not let you in the water ahead of time - ran about 1/2 mile up the trail and a short spin on the bike
