Pre-race routine:

3 hrs of sleep. Dragged myself out of bed and grabbed a couple granola bars and ate some donought holes. The d holes had powdered sugar on them which led to some cotton mouth issues, but oh well they tasted good.
Event warmup:

Met my friend josh and hung out till it was time to get in our lineup slot. No warm up screw it. Lol

Comments:

Went out a little fast. Halfway through I was on pace to run a 45 min Bix and was just shooting for under 50 minutes. I was 10 seconds off and should have eased into the race instead of going out like a crazy man. Around mile 5 I started feeling like I might throw up, but I blame the donought holes for that. The hills affected my legs more than I figured they would.
What would you do differently?:

Definitely more hill training. And more miles in general. Leading up to this race I was only running 2 times a week. Definitely need to up that to 5 days a week at least.
Post race
Warm down:

Tried to drink some chocolate milk at the post race party but it was warm, so I sat under a tree and gobbled down a popsicle.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Ate the wrong food that morning, and didn't have enough miles under my belt going into the race. Definitely under trained.

Event comments:

This is always a fun race. It was good to use this race as a springboard to get back into running after a long absence. I will be back next year to set a pr!

Performance: Good
Course: The course was rough, but I knew that going in since its the same every year. Its not the brady street hill that gets ya, its the slow incline after the turnaround. The atmosphere is always a blast though with so many people and live music throughout the course. I especially liked the african drummers around mile 5. That got me pumped up pretty good.
