Run
Comments: Met up with Bob and the 4:25 pace group within a mile or so. We ended up going a little ahead of them and maintained very close to 10:00/mile with walking the water stops until around 17 miles. Then the walking breaks lengthened and became more frequent. My feet hurt but otherwise all systems were fine. Bob and I hung together until mile 23, when we hit the Boardwalk. At that point, I knew he would finish and he insisted I try to beat my old marathon time of 4:28, so off I went. I shut down the pain receptors in my brain and did about 7:30 miles for the last 3. Based on my placing relative to Bob's I think I passed 101 runners in that stretch. Post race
Warm down: Drank my free beer, then a few were bought, had lunch and back home. What limited your ability to perform faster: I treated it as an IM training run for 23 miles. Event comments: A very nice race to do. Last updated: 2012-09-06 12:00 AM

Went to bed at 9:30 with the alarm set for 7:00. Running races wakeup times are way more civilized than tri's. The party people in the room next door got in and started yacking at 3:45. Oh well, I'm awake, lets play some craps. 3 more hours standing in place around a dice table probably wasnt the best thing for my feet before a marathon. Went back to the room to load my bags in the car at 7, to find my Garmin didn't charge after yesterdays bike ride and was dead. Charged it for as long as I could then had a frazzled run to the race start.
running to get there before the gun.
