Ran the Red Oak Fun
) run at Ravinia Park the day before. This was my daughter's
) first 5k. We ran it together in 33:39.
The morning of the race I walked from my house to the start ~0.5 miles.
Not much. Jumped up and down to stay a little warm.

Felt really good. During the first 6 miles I paced with several different people. Chatted about the race, course, running in general, and then picked up the pace to the end.
What would you do differently?:
Maybe would have started with a higher pace or picked up the pace sooner.
Walked through the snack/goodie line. BS'd with co-workers and my wife. Watched the kids play the games.
What limited your ability to perform faster:
I think I did well. I wanted to try to maintain my goal pace at least until mile 6 to see how I was feeling. I stuck to my plan pretty well.
With the increase in runners they could have used more port-a-potties at the start.

Maintained 8:55-9 min/mile through miles 6. Then finished with about 8:25 min/mile for the remainder.
Relatively flat until mile 10. There is a quick decent followed by ~0.5 mile flat with a decent climb at the end that they are calling "Hero Hill". Overall good course.
